New instruments create new possibilities. Now it’s your turn to explore them.

The Cardinal testnet trading competition on Arbitrum Sepolia is live. Starting with equal test funds, traders will compete on the Yield Perp leaderboard for a top prize of **10,000 DRV**. Over the next two weeks, you’ll have the opportunity to develop strategies, test the product, and help shape what comes next for Cardinal.

Built on Derive’s V3 infrastructure, Yield Perps are our first step toward expanding what derivatives can offer. This competition is an invitation to put them to work.

## The Competition

The competition runs for exactly two weeks:

- **Starts:** October 29, 2026 at 9:00 UTC
- **Ends:** November 12, 2026 at 9:00 UTC

Traders with the most money at the end of the competition finish highest on the leaderboard. Margin remaining in open positions counts toward your total assets.

Explore different position types, adjust your approach, and compete to out-earn the field. Builders can also use the [Cardinal API](https://cardinal.trading/docs/developers/api/getting-started/?ref=blog.cardinal.trading) for automated and advanced trading strategies.

## Prizes

Compete for a top prize of up to 10,000 DRV tokens:

- **1st place:** 10,000 DRV.
- **2nd place:** 2,000 DRV.
- **3rd place:** 1,000 DRV.
- **Top 20:** Early access to mainnet.

Try to reach one of the top spots to enjoy tokens, early access to live products from Cardinal, and bragging rights.

## Trading Yield Perps

Yield Perps let traders earn from BTC price behavior over time. Choose a position based on your view of the market:

- **Range:** Earn while BTC stays between two price bands.
- **Long:** Earn while BTC stays above a rising hurdle line.
- **Short:** Earn while BTC stays below a falling hurdle line.

Earnings vary with price and are offset by funding costs. Increasing leverage raises the potential APR while making the position’s price conditions more difficult to meet. Ensure your position stays in range to continue earning.

## Help Shape Cardinal

The leaderboard is one part of the competition. Your experience using the product matters just as much.

We’re using this testnet to stress-test the system, refine the trading experience, and learn how traders approach a new instrument. Tell us what works, what feels unclear, and what you’d like to see next.

Join the conversation in [Discord](https://discord.gg/cardinal-labs?ref=blog.cardinal.trading), share your feedback, and report bugs as you find them. Your participation will help improve Yield Perps for everyone ahead of mainnet.
